Bridesmaids Trailer Starring Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph

Bridesmaids Trailer: Is This The Hangover For Girls?

Let's just get this out in the open: the trailer for Bridesmaids is trying too hard to package the film as the female answer to The Hangover. The film stars Maya Rudolph as a bride-to-be, following her and her bridal party (including Kristen Wiig as her maid of honor) through the trials, tribulations, and drama that ensues in the months before a wedding. Right off the bat, I was put off by how cartoonish many of the characters are — Wiig does her typical SNL shtick, Rose Byrne plays the snob, The Office's Ellie Kemper is the priss, and Melissa McCarthy is the masculine one.

Still, the trailer definitely has a few laughs (not to mention a Jon Hamm cameo), and I have to admit that my own experience proves that some of the stereotypes that exist about bridal parties are true. Watch the trailer for yourself when you

Hmm...it could go either way! I don't really care for the ACDC music or the gross-out humor...but I loved Maya Rudolph in Away We Go, so we'll see!

The Hangover was so funny, but I'm not sure this will appeal to me in the same way Hangover did.

I'm kinda excited too. Hoping for something in the vein of The Sweetest Thing (read: guilty pleasure). Plus, I LOVE Melissa McCarthy.
