Buzz In: How Many Movies Could You Watch in One Day?

AMC Theaters has announced its annual Oscar marathon, offering the chance to see all the nominees for Best Picture in one sitting. This year, the stakes have changed a bit — since there's 10 movies in the category, the special will actually take place on two separate Saturdays, showing five movies on each one.

Taking in five films in a day is one thing, but repeating it a week later seems a little aggressive. Especially when you've got some long, epic, and emotionally draining films on the slate. I don't know if I could handle Avatar immediately followed by Precious — and that's just two!

The whole situation has got me thinking about my film stamina in general. In college I was definitely known to cram four or five movies into a lazy Saturday with ease, but when it comes to in-theater entertainment, my record is three films in one day. (Thanks, Sundance!) Even film festivals generally give you some free time between movies, but I'm not sure I could go more than four in a theater.

What about you? Does the AMC deal appeal to you? How many movies have you watched in one day in the past — and how many do you think you could take if you had to?

Not that many ... 3 to 4? That's my limit on long-distance transatlantic flights, and i fall asleep during most of them!I don't really have the patience to watch lots of movies anymore. As for tv shows, i could watch those ALL DAY.

Most I've ever done is 3 movies in a day, but it was a LoTR marathon so took all day. Looong movies. :)

I could probably watch 3, maybe 4 if I were feeling totally lazy, but I don't think I could do all the Best Pictures in one day. I'll never watch some of them anyway since I'm not into emotional, overly deep stuff.

Damn, that's a good one.. Two or three a day is usually my max, though it isn't a rarity I watch two-three movies a day.. it happens quite frequently. But my record, I wouldn't know.. Whenever I do movie marathons with friends or something, we usually get tired of it by the third or fourth. So I think my record might be four in one day and that's already a tough thing to achieve. It'd be fun to break that record sometime.. a day has 24 hours, a movie is approximately 2 hours long.. 10 movies in one day? Bring it on.

I've actually done the Best Picture Showcase for the past 3 years. It's definitely a marathon, but the price is great and it's fun a way to make sure you've seen all the nominated films before the Oscars. I thought it might not happen this year with 10 films, though. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do it this year. I'm super bummed about that...

It's funny you should mention this Buzz, because I just watched 6 movies on Thursday. I was really lazy so decided to do it. It was my day off so I figured why now. Honestly, the last time I did that was 6 months ago and it was only 3 movies. I'm a movie person :) what can I say.
