But the WRITERS of the songs have ALWAYS been paid for getting their music played on the radio. It is called publishing. To say that the person writing the music deserves to get paid, but the person who actually performs the music doesn't is wrong. That is why you get so many stars that fight to have co-writing credits on their 2nd and 3rd cds...because they see how much money they are missing out on by only being a performer. The perfomer only gets money from selling cds and performing...and cds aren't being bought anymore. I understand their position. It is THEM that consumers are buying.

The musicians that want to be paid when their music is played on the radio? That is ridiculous! That is free publicity for them. I wouldn't buy CDs or iTunes if I never heard a song before.
