Buzz In: What Are Your Favorite Movie Songs?

Tonight, the American Idol top seven will take on their favorite songs from the movies (with special guest Quentin Tarantino). We've talked a lot around here about movie soundtracks and Oscar-winning songs, so naturally I'm excited to see what the Idol contestants pull out of the songbook tonight. I've been thinking all day about some of my favorite movie songs — this may or may not boil down to playing "Falling Slowly" and "Jai Ho" a whole bunch — and I thought I'd see if you had them on the brain, too. Tell me: What are your all-time favorite songs from the cinema?

Genisisrocks, I cannot believe I forgot "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)"; Benny and Joon is one of my favorite flicks and that song/moment was perfect.

Oh, I just thought of mine!!! It's Carly Simon's "Let the River Run" from Working Girl. Love love LOVE it. And I know it wasn't written for the movie, but I also love "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)".

I can't even pick just one. The right song at the right moment in a TV show or movie can completely change the impact of that scene. The people who get to pick music for tv/movies have the best job ever.

I'm obsessed with Jai Ho lately. It's a super catchy tune with a sweet message. And I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) was on the Benny and Joon soundtrack. The song's more famous than the movie IMO and every time I hear it I just feel happy:)

Saw them live last summer. Thom Yorke didn't say a word the whole show. The crowd stayed for the entire set in the pouring rain. Finally for the encore he said: "Go home, get warm, have a cup of tea and snug someone you love" Then played Talk Show Host. His words ans that song were worth being sick for weeks after.

I seem to love songs with the same title as the movie: "You Light Up My Life," "9 to 5," "Xanadu". I also love "Falling Slowly" from Once. "Man of Constant Sorrow" from O Brother. "I Will Always Love You" from the Bodyguard. "Pearl Harbor Sucked and I Miss You" from Team America.
