Buzz In: What's Your Go-To Karaoke Song?

Buzz In: What's Your Go-To Karaoke Song?

Here at Sugar HQ we're gearing up for the annual holiday party and if past soirees are any indication, the karaoke machine will probably be a focal point. This is always a hilarious way to bond with co-workers, and I'm excited to find out which tunes people will choose to croon this year.

For some, selecting a karaoke song requires a bit of thought. "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," for example, is a fun song to sing, but once you get into it you might realize that it seems to go on forever (see also "November Rain" and "My Sharona," among many others). Can't be too slow and boring, and some of the super belt-y ones can go from amusing to annoying in no time.

So, what do you think I should sing when it's my turn at the mic? What are your favorite karaoke songs? Do you have a tried-and-true, go-to tune?

I may be weird, but it's a toss-up between "Commanche," "A White Sport Coat," and "Hitching A Ride."

My go-to karaoke songs are usually No Rain - Blind Mellon, Big Poppa - Biggie, What a Man - Salt n' Pepa & En Vogue, I Touch Myself - Divinyls and anything by George Michael (although Freedom is another one that goes on and on).

I have to say that I usually do Don't Stop Believin', but my friend and I once did 500 miles by the Proclaimers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQfqSWe8eVE). By the end of the song we had a standing ovation and declarations of love from men at the bar. Such a fun song!!!

I recently sang "Downtown" by Petula Clark at a Karaoke bar and it turned out to be a big crowd pleaser! It is something a litte out of the ordinary for Karaoke and is pretty easy to sing. I have loved that song ever since I was a little kid listening to the oldies station in the car with my parents.

"I will survive!" by Gloria Gaynor. It's best when you are drunk with your girlfriends. I totally agree.

Mine has always been Baby Got Back - I've known all the words pretty much since it came out, and I've always had kind of a big booty, so it works :)

"Hit me with your best shot" Pat Benatar. And of course, "The Love Shack" B-52s. I bring the house down with both of these. Literally. The windows burst and everything. Its great.

Hahaha me and my girlfriends went on a cruise last year and we sang Britney Spears' song "Toxic". NONE of us knew the words and we sounded awful.....we cleared the room, it was pretty bad but we had such a BLAST and it was hilarious needless to say. My boyfriend doesn't like karaoke so we hardly ever go to places when they are doing karaoke :(

"Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry, "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence, or "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey. Because I'm from New Jersey, however, I can only sing that last one if I'm in another state. I also love "Ballroom Blitz" by Sweet, but it's hard to sing if I'm having an off day.

Hahaha....I just did Karaoke last night. I sang Ace of Base- The Sign and then my friend and I sang Spice Girls- Wannabe. They were both crowd pleasers. Garth Brooks- Friends in Low Places is always a good choice. I hate when bad singers try to sing songs that your really need to know how to sing well to pull off (hmm...that made sense right?)
