Buzz In: Which TLC Shows Inspire You Most?

My colleague lilsugar has been talking to one of the "stars" — the mom! — of TLC's 17 Kids and Counting: The Duggar Family and while I find it fascinating that anyone has had that many kids, I still don't often tune in to watch this show.

Periodically, however, I do find myself glued to some of TLC's other programming like Little People Big World. I'm always inspired by this family composed of both little and average-sized people. They're funny and real and they generally have great attitudes, which sometimes makes me think, "If they have a good attitude about life, then so can I!"

Basically, I watch them because they give me the warm-fuzzies. The Duggars, not as much. Which of the TLC shows do you find inspiring?

I'm not really "inspired" by any of the shows on TLC. I love to watch "A Baby Story," and I watch "Jon & Kate Plus 8" and "What Not to Wear" occasionally.

What Not To Wear is my favorite TLC show. And I always stop on that channel when they have their decorating shows on. I like Little People Big World (because Matt is such a personality!) and Jon & Kate Plus Eight (their kids are adorable!) every once in a blue moon. But inspired by them? I don't know. Definitely not the Duggar family one... they kinda creep me out.

The Duggars are the most inspirational Little People Big World- the only one i like on there is Zach, the rest? i cant stand ESPECIALLY the mother who is as unloving, uncaring, and cold as you can get.

I watch The Duggers, but you hit it right on the nail--they don't exactly give me the warm fuzzies. They are just kind of fascinating to watch, because they are so different (similar to why I watch Big Love, except Big Love has all kinds of drama that I adore). That said, I don't watch 17 and counting too often because I find them slightly creepy sometimes and it makes me uncomfortable sometimes (I think it's the matching hair styles and clothing....might subconsciously remind me of a cult). The Rollofs (Little People, Big World) on the other hand are so fun and happy, and I feel like I know them-- I love them! I enjoy watching what they are doing, they do so much! Their lives seem really fulfilling and genuine, I want to build my future family like that.

I love Little People Big World, I would love to live on their farm and they seem cool and fun! The Duggers and John and Kate I really couldn't care less about. I also watch What Not To Wear and the new show with the original What not to wearer's from the UK

The Duggars look like they came from the Juniper Creek compound on Big Love!

I'm gonna go with Katie Kate on this one - but I have to say, Stacy and Clinton are totally inspirational! Actually, has anyone seen this new family - The Winters? They are going on 12 kids, the mom is trying to start a clothing shop. I think they live somewhere in PA, they are close to the Amish but they are not Amish themselves. My first reaction was "Oh no, not another Duggers family!" But the more I watched of it the more I started to love them! They have a modest home, they raise barns, sew their own clothes, etc. And when you really see them interact with each other (especially the husband and wife) they actually seem like really cool, normal people that just are living their lives a little differently.

Haha...I'm going to go with What Not To Wear...it's not really inspirational in the sense that this article is talking about, but it's a great show and it's so fun to see the transformations they do for these women

I love John and Kate plus 8. Their children are absolutely adorable, and I love watching them grow up. 17 kids and counting bothers me because she just keeps popping them out, and they instill all of these things on their children without even letting them figure things for themselves.

I like jon and kate, I've been watching them since their kids were babies. I like that they don't try to be 'sweet loving family' for the camera, and that they acknowledge the fact that they get to do all kinds of traveling and fun things with their kids because of the money they get from the show. I also watch the duggars, but it's from the same perspective as telewyo, the duggars are fascinating because they are so conservative and alien and their kids just kind of blindly follow whatever the parents tell them. I'm kind of hoping at least one or two of the 18 kids breaks out and rebels one day!

Neither one.... although every once in a while I will catch an episode of Little People Big World. The Duggars on the other hand remind of a stepford family. They are all so very strange IMO.

I used to watch Little People Big World but it was never really interesting to me, same thing with John and Kate plus 8- it was always so sweet to me how John is with his kids. The Duggar family are terrible. Who needs that many kids? And I'll be honest, they're not attractive people they should have stopped at 2 at most. Seriously!? Who needs that many kids?

I agree with starangel82...John & Kate was fun when they were a normal family figuring out how to make it and admittedly stumbling through how to raise that many multiples. Now they are way too into themselves and are writing books about how to raise kids so they think they know everything. To me, the Duggars are more of a car accident sort of fascination...I don't really care if I catch the show or not but if I do I'm just amazed because of how religious and conservative they are (I mean the oldest son proposed to a girl he had only seen face to face a couple of times, they were engaged three months and they didn't even kiss until their wedding day!) For me it's like watching aliens.
