Casey Wilson and Michaela Watkins Have Been Fired From SNL

SNL Lets Go of Two Female Cast Members — Are You Surprised?

Last week I was excited to report that SNL was adding two funny ladies to the cast, but apparently they came with a price. Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson, who both joined the show within the last two seasons, have been let go. I was looking forward to seeing a more female-intensive cast, but Watkins and Wilson didn't create the most memorable characters to appear on the show. What do you think — are you surprised they won't be back next season?

I loved Michaela!!! Bummer... I'm glad Casey is out. I was never a fan. She wasn't funny at all.

I've never had much of an opinion of Casey. She was never really given a lot to do. I was really surprised that Michaela was fired. She was the best of the four featured players in my opinion.I'm disappointed with both firings mostly because I'm guessing that now, just like this past season, 3 of the 4 women on the show will all be featured. Which would mean the overusing of Kristen isn't going to stop anytime soon.

I'm with the majority in agreeing that Michaela was hysterical and did a great Hoda, and that I never though Casey was funny.

I never thought that Casey was funny, so I'm not surprised they dropped her but I think Michaela should've stayed. She was hilarious!

Casey wasn't very funny, but I thought Michaela was HILARIOUS! Her Hoda and crazy blogger were amazing.

I don't think that any hiring or firings can help the show anymore. As sad as it is, they need 20-year-later versions of Dana Carvey, Mike Meyers, Cheri Oteri, etc. to make this show even somewhat watch-able.

TaylorLynn, I agree with you about Andy Samberg digital shorts. Most of the time, I don't even think they are funny. I mean, I could make up crap like that. I don't get it. This is why I don't watch SNL.

I can't really vote on this b/c I never thought Casey was funny and I never watched the last season of SNL to judge whether or not Michaela was funny. But I do think it's sad that the ladies on SNL are not as funny as they were back in Molly Shannon and Tina Fey days. What's up with that? And why won't someone fire Kristen Wiig already? SO ANNOYING!

Michaela was good. I'm surprised they dropped her, but Casey was on for a while and never really broke through.I liked the WASP character she played in those dinner scenes, but that's it. Also, SNL is a show that rarely appreciates its female stars. Amy and Tina shined because (1st) they were GREAT and (2nd) there weren't--and still aren't-- any male castmembers that really held their own against them. Kristin's doing great, but she's suffering from a weak supporting cast, and poor choice of guest hosts. So,is this a surprise? No...but will it redeem the show? We'll see.

I haven't been into SNL in years. I'd rather watch Mad TV.

Apparently Lorne told Michaela that he wanted to help her work on a show for herself rather than keep her on SNL. Read that on CNN. Also, I have never thought that Casey is funny

I was pretty surprised especially about Michaela Watkins because her blogger girl during Weekend Update was funny.
