Chris Evans Accepts Offer to Star as Captain America 2010-03-22 16:02:40

Chris Evans to Suit Up as Captain America

No role in 2010 so far has had more names attached to it than Captain America. Despite a healthy debate here about who should play the superhero, it appears Marvel has settled on an actor: Chris Evans. Evans agreed to a multiple-film deal to portray Steve Rogers and his alter ego.

Evans already showed off his powers as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four, but Captain America is obviously higher profile — there's no ensemble here, just Evans in his stars and stripes. I, for one, am interested to see how Marvel works this franchise — so far one of the only details we know is that Hugo Weaving will play the nemesis — but if it's handled anything like Spider-Man, Evans better be ready for his star to explode.

uggh; not liking this at all - he can pull off the smarminess but not the toughness nor the infallible good guy. better than any of the other choices, though.hypnoticmix; fortunately (to me because I hated those movies) the company that had the rights to the Fantastic 4 movies lost them (it's this whole wierd 5-year thing that Marvel holds) so, unless someone else purchases them, we won't be seeing any more...

...and what is this about a 9 picture contract. The problem with sequels is they rarely best their prequels and if you're thinking about 9 that could spell the franchises demise.

If he had not already owned the roll of the Human Torch in Fantastic Four I would say great choice but now if the F/4 franchise decides to make another movie it's just gonna be odd to have him play both Superheroes. He is definitely a hottie though.
