Chuck fans breathed a collective sigh of relief when we heard the news that the show was getting renewed, but there's another side of the story: Chuck's upcoming 13-episode season will be its last. The spy comedy has been hanging on by a thread virtually since its inception, so the fact that it'll be back in the Fall is an impressive feat all on its own. Still, I have a feeling that die-hard fans won't be pleased with this news, as it means that we'll soon be saying goodbye to Chuck, Sarah, and the whole gang.
I've been a fan of Chuck from the first episode, but I actually think this is a great move for NBC. For the most part, the show has run its course, and now creators/writers Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak can wrap up all of their stories with a big red bow without worrying about whether or not the show will be left in the lurch yet again. Chuck has served up some of my favorite season finales over the years ("Guys, I know kung fu"!) and I'm looking forward to seeing it get the send-off it deserves.
What's your take on this news — do you think Chuck deserves more time?
