Did You Ever Tune In For Casey Kasem's Weekly Radio Show?

As a kid, I used to tune into Casey Kasem's weekly Top 40 radio show every single week, always so anxious to find out what the No. 1 song was that week. It all seems quaint now, sitting excitedly by a radio as a kid, so maybe that's why I felt a little pang of nostalgia-fueled sadness when I learned that Casey Kasem has "officially said goodbye" completely to his radio show. The man's friendly voice could be heard listing off top tunes in some way or another for a whopping 39 years. Wow!

Do you also have fond memories of listening to Casey Kasem's radio shows?

I did listen to him when I was a kid... it kind of surprises me that he's saying goodbye now. I had no idea he was still doing radio at all!

Me too too, sugar_me_sw! I would tape them off the radio and like Buzz, I was always really desperate to hear what the #1 song that week was. A friend of mine has satellite radio and on one station, they will randomly pick a week from the 80s or 90s and play that show (without commercials) in its entirety. Great way to relive my high school years and the awesome music that accompanied them!

Me, too Sugar_me. That was back before mp3's. I think I remember it coming on Saturday afternoons when I grew up. Then it would replay on Sundays, also.

I used to listen to him on Sunday mornings when I was in middle school. I would get my cassette ready to record songs that I liked and listened to it on my walkman. oooh..the memories.

My boss worked for Cumulus broadcasting for a LONG time. He told me that back in the day, Casey Kasem used to have the hardest time getting a job as a DJ because he looked like such a hippie. What a mistake those stations made!

Yes, when I was in my first year in college, I would listen to it on Sunday evenings when I did laundry.
