Download a Free Taste of SXSW

Wish you were heading to next week's South by Southwest music and film festival in Austin? Me too. But while I moon over the awesome lineup (Andrew Bird! Grizzly Bear! A bunch of awesome-sounding movies!), NPR is giving out a free treat to get us in the SXSW mood.

The folks at All Songs Considered have put together an iTunes playlist of 10 songs from SXSW bands, including "The Rake's Song" from the Decemberists, "Dreamer" from K'naan's latest album, and tracks from Blitzen Trapper, BLK JKS, and Blind Pilot. Head over here to get your code — the code's good till April 30.

If that's not enough, the show's also put together a streaming playlist of SXSW songs they're calling "The Austin 100." I think I'll get that queued up for next week and listen to it every time I catch myself dreaming of Austin.

I'm an Austinite, too, and I'm glad to be missing SXSW. But I won't be able to avoid the traffic...

Thanks! I had to go through the NPR site to download though since each code can only be used once.

I'm an Austinite. I moved from Austin to Dallas recently. And if there's one thing I don't miss about living there, it's the damn festivals that make the city a free-for-all.
