Drew Barrymore to Direct How to Be Single

Drew Barrymore Will Tell You How to Be Single

Drew Barrymore made her directorial debut with Whip It, and after taking a few years off, she's ready to get back behind the camera. For her next project, Barrymore has chosen a romantic comedy called How to Be Single. If you're already thinking about He's Just Not That Into You, then you're on the right track. The film will follow a similar formula, showcasing an ensemble cast as they go through love and heartbreak over 10 years in New York City. To take the comparisons one step further, Barrymore's new film reunites HJNTIY scribes Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn with Barrymore and her producing partner Nancy Juvonen.

Both films are also based on books, though Liz Tuccillo's How to Be Single is a novel, not a self-help book. I thought Whip It was a solid freshman effort from Barrymore, and I don't doubt that she'll have any problem getting comfortable directing a romantic comedy, a genre that she has plenty of experience in. Holllywood has been struggling with the star-studded romantic comedy theme these days (cough, cough, Valentine's Day), but at least we know Barrymore will have the pick of the litter when lining up famous friends for her newest project.

you know, i really liked Whip It and Drew's rom-com's are usually pretty good, so i'd say its a good fit for her. as long as its better than V-day! that was terrible.

I'm reading this book right now, and always worried that if people see the title, they'll think it's self-help!
