Ewan McGregor May Play Kurt Cobain

Having recently acquired the rights to the biography Heavier Than Heaven about her late husband Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love is apparently in talks to make a movie about Cobain's life, reports. Who could possibly play Cobain on the big screen? Ewan McGregor is reportedly at the top of the list of actors being considered for the part. According to the article:

[Love] confirmed the project was in "an embryonic stage" and was being discussed with several film studios.

She wrote on fansite "It has no script and no director attached, but if the movie is made it will of course be an A-list and high-end film."

Biopics about musicians' lives — including Ray, Walk the Line, and the rumored Freddie Mercury movie starring Johnny Depp — seem to be all the rage these days. This one makes me particularly sad, however, as I still freshly remember how tragic it was when Cobain died.

McGregor seems like a smart choice, but can a Hollywood "high-end film" truly capture the gritty, terrifying truth of Cobain's sadness without trivializing it? It's good to know that Courtney Love will be involved in the making of the movie, though I still have fears that it won't do Cobain's life and death justice. What do you guys think?

I love Ewan.

I don't mind Ewan as Kurt, but I'd have to think about it. I also wish that someone else that was close to him (I'm sorry, that not close comment from Courtney is stupid). I'd rather Dave or Krist had something to do with it. I also believe, sadly, that Kurt killed himself, and Courtney didn't have him murdered. ---------------------------------------------------- Imagination is more important than knowledge. i think anyone who thinks she had anything to do with his death knows absolutely nothing and just wishes for a conspiracy. i try not be offensive but the idea of that is not only disgusting but just plain ignorant and stupid. while i have always disagreed with how courtney has handled the estate and her selling off portions of her share of the collections, i have always felt bad for her situation, because close or not he was still her husband and the father of her child and he still did a very selfish thing.

i don't like the idea of courtney love making even more money off of the death of someone she admits she wasn't very close to. i think ewan mcgregor is a great choice, though. i'm just sick of courtney love in general. his whole death was suspicious. her whole music career is/was suspicious.
