Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Rights Acquired

Fifty Shades of Grey Is Heading to the Big Screen — Have You Read the Books?

It's only a matter of time before a sensational book series gets movie rights, so it's not really surprising that Fifty Shades of Grey is coming to the big screen. For those of you that aren't familiar with the book, Fifty Shades of Grey is an erotic novel about a 21-year-old woman and the S&M relationship she engages in with a mysterious billionaire. The book (which is the first in a trilogy) is currently only available as an ebook, but will hit bookshelves in April.

The story started out as fan fiction, and let's just say it's not the next great American novel. I'm curious about how it will play out on the big screen (and given the sexually explicit nature, whether big-name actors will be willing to sign on.) But before we get into casting ideas, I want to know if you've read the books — and what you think of them. Vote!

@Katie Henry  @Becky Kirsch  @Danny Feekes  I do not see anything about twilight  in these book, Even though I like twilight it is for younger people like teens. These are for us adults. Way better writting and everything.

I have read the books six times each straight in a row. When I first startd to read the book  on the first page I started to see Alexander Skarsgard as Christain. He fits the part to the t. (the best for it).

When reading fifty shades the only actor that has the natural look of Christian with the smoldering eyes, sexy walk, the long sensous fingers would be Harry Conick,jr.  He just has that look about him that is natural. All my female friends agree. He is so sexy!!!

OKay, I just bought and devoured the first book.  It took me some time to get over a.) the twilight characters in a different setting and b.) the S&M stuff.  But it was good enough for me to buy the second, which I just finished. It is much better, in my opinion, because it is more about the characters and has some good plot twists. That one I can see being a movie, but not the kinky stuff...the first book might come off as a HBO special.

Although I have read the books and being a fan of mild erotica thoroughly enjoyed them (I love a damaged hero), I can't imagine how they could possibly make a movie version.

Sooo @Becky Kirsch @Danny Feekes I hear it's losed based on Twilight fan fiction. Read it as Edward and Bella and let me know if it makes it any better.

@Danny Feekes I'm with you. I'm 25% into it and so far it's not nearly as addicting as I thought it would be.

I'm totally curious, but I feel like I'm finally going to have to break down and buy a Kindle because I don't want people to see me reading it on the train.

10 chapters into the first book. So far, I'm 'eh,' but we'll see how it turns out.

I am a fan of the series but I cannot see this turning into a movie.
