Girls TV Show Review

What Did You Think of Girls?

HBO's latest series Girls premiered this week, with Lena Dunham leading a pack of 20-something ladies as Hannah, a young woman figuring out her personal life and career in New York. In the first episode, we're introduced to her and her friends Marnie (Allison Williams), Jessa (Jemima Kirke), and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet), and the variety of challenges in their lives. I got you up to speed on the Girls pilot beforehand, but now that you've had a chance to see it for yourself, I want to know what you think. Are the characters compelling enough for you to want to keep up with? Are the dating situations funny, or are they a little too uncomfortable? Let me know what you thought of Girls, and whether you'll be tuning in again next week.

I just flipped past CNN (the worst of the anti-White racist networks)... Soledad Obrein (also very anti-White) was complaining that this show only had White people on it! That's the same complaints you get from the old ladies on "The View" TV show all the time ... Whites better include blacks in all their activities ...but blacks can do what they want. I see a lot of black shows coming on tv now ...very few to no Whites on them .....I don't care. Blacks and Whites are self segregating in real life ...why fake it on tv?

Loved the first episode! Can't believe Lena Dunham wrote, directed, and is starring in the show as a 25-year-old girl who could be actually dealing with these struggles. Can't wait to see what the rest of the season will bring.

i had higher hopes for it actually.  i don't know if i'm going to make it a must watch just yet.  i'll give it another try though since i'm a HUGE SATC fan...and i want this to succeed. i'm kind of hoping that it'll keep with the real nature of how hard it is after you're done with school in NYC.  i lived that life for the longest time so i feel their pain!

I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Very indicative of post-grad life in NYC.

@noonehere I've seen the next episode and found #2 much funnier than the pilot. Interested to hear what you think!

It's very refreshing not to see stupid young women spending their parents' money and comploting against their ex best-friends. But I thought it lacked a bit of humour. Let's give it another shot next week.
