I've had a lot of time over the years to ruminate on what makes a good romantic comedy, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the trailer for Going the Distance, which stars Drew Barrymore and Justin Long, has many of those elements. First of all, there's clear chemistry between the leads (no doubt due in part to Barrymore and Long's real-life relationship). They play Erin and Garrett, a brand-new couple who are about to test the waters with a long-distance relationship after only six weeks of dating.
Secondly, the movie's got a solid supporting cast. Charlie Day (the lovably wacky Charlie from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Jason Sudeikis play Garrett's buddies, while Christina Applegate is on board as Erin's sister. And for the clincher: the trailer actually made me giggle, and not in spite of myself. I doubt this is the kinda movie that will change the face of film romance as we know it, but I'll settle for a worthwhile relationship comedy — since a good one is hard to find these days. Watch for yourself when you
