In a perfect world, we would have been seeing Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby over the holidays, but since the film has been pushed back to Spring, we'll have to settle for another trailer. The good news is that this trailer is far meatier than the first. It's Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) at his grandest — glad-handing business partners, haphazardly driving through the streets with Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) riding shotgun, and, of course, romancing the young (and married) Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan). There are still the dazzling parties, but there's also mystery, intrigue, and a love scene!
I was willing to settle for The Great Gatsby's new character posters, but this is a much better Christmas present. I love that we get to find out a little bit more about Gatsby's past, and Tom Buchanan's (Joel Edgerton) investigation. The modernized version of "Happy Together" that plays at the end is also incredibly explosive with the footage. Woefully, The Great Gatsby doesn't open until May 10, but you can watch the trailer after the jump.
