Her Movie Trailer With Joaquin Phoenix

Her Trailer: Joaquin Phoenix Falls For Computer Scarlett Johansson

Joaquin Phoenix stars in Spike Jonze's latest film, Her, as a man who falls in love . . . with a computer. To be fair, that computer is voiced by Scarlett Johansson. Phoenix's character, Theodore, joins "the world's first artificially intelligent operating system," which seems to mean he's now got a robot companion. She reminds him to get up in the morning, but she also talks to him on a very personal basis. Given access to pretty much his entire life, she sees that he's gone through a breakup with Rooney Mara (seen in flashbacks), and though she encourages him to date, it turns out he just wants to date, well, her.

Color me fascinated. I'm hooked by the premise; how can this end well for anyone? It's nice to see The Master costars Phoenix and Amy Adams in another film together, this one presumably lighter than their last. Then again, Arcade Fire is providing the score, so that means there's likely to be some triumphant emotional moments. Brace for tears! The movie is out in limited release on Dec. 18, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.

I thought Karen O and the Kids did the score for Where the Wild Things Are. They did use Arcade Fire's "Wake Up" for the trailer though. (But maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.)
