"Jai Ho" Wins Best Original Song at the 2009 Oscars

What Do You Think About the Best Original Song?

"Jai Ho" from Slumdog Millionaire just won Best Original Song! The song beat out "O Saya," another tune from Slumdog Millionaire, and "Down to Earth" from Wall-E, which was performed on the broadcast by John Legend instead of Peter Gabriel. What do you think of this win?

BellaEdward, I've been trying to get the hang of that dance for SO long!! I liked O Saya because of the train-track beat, that made it super-unique. And if you liked Rahman's stuff, I'd recommend ou listen to some of his older stuff. Bloody fantastic. And a song called Masakalli from a movie called Delhi-6. <3

I like the song a lot, but I'm surprised there were only three nominated. What about Springsteen's song for The Wrestler? Surely there were a couple more decent songs from films over the year?

Jai Ho was the best of the nominees, but Bruce Springsteen really was robbed.

I wanted Down to Earth to win... I think it was a great song that encapsulated exactly what the movie was all about, a hard thing to do.

I love this song. I voted for it and am very pleased it won! I can't believe a song from Wall E was nominated though. What a joke.

i definitely think " o saya" deserved it over "jai ho." Me too. That's the song that I love most on the soundtrack but I'm happy R.A. won!
