Jake Gyllenhaal Heads to the Ring For a New Role

Jake Gyllenhaal [1] is preparing to step into the boxing ring, while Whoopi Goldberg is brushing up on her ghostly skills and Tony Goldwyn has selected a role that couldn't be further from Scandal's Fitz. Following the end of award season, casting news has been a little slow, but there are still some good tidbits! Take a look at the biggest casting news, and check back as we update with more.

Scandal's Tony Goldwyn will play Warren Jeffs [2], the leader of a Fundamentalist Mormon polygamist sect who spent more than a year on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted List, in the Lifetime movie Outlaw Prophet.

Whoopi Goldberg will star in The Christmas Pearl [3], about a ghostly maid who returns to the family she once worked for.

Jude Law will join Susan Cooper [4], Paul Feig's spy comedy starring Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, and Rose Byrne.

Uma Thurman joined American Ultra [5], an action comedy also starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart [6]. Thurman will play a government official protecting Eisenberg as an unmotivated stoner.

Jake Gyllenhaal will star in Southpaw [7] as a troubled boxer. The sports drama will be directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day).
