Well here's a bit of spot-on casting news: Johnny Depp will produce and likely star in a Dr. Seuss biopic. The famed author, whose real name is Theodor Geisel, wrote tons of beloved books for children, including One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and The Lorax.
This isn't the first time Depp has portrayed a real person on the big screen: he starred as J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland and played the title role in Ed Wood. Though Dr. Seuss is much better remembered for his work than his personal life, I'm already having an easy time seeing Depp as a man who created Seuss's famous rhymes and signature illustrations. More than anything else, I'm hoping the film will shed some light on Geisel's life — a topic that I know little about — instead of trying to re-create his books on the big screen. (We all know what happened with The Cat in the Hat movie.)
