Zack Snyder's trailer for Sucker Punch is action-packed, frenzied, and frankly, it makes my head spin. Featuring everything from dragons to burlesque to samurais, it's a minute and a half of imagery overload, and if it wasn't for Comic-Con, I'd honestly have no idea what was going on. Luckily, I did sit in on the film's panel, so I can shed some light on this preview.
The premise is this: Emily Browning plays Baby Doll, a young girl who gets sent away to a mental institution, where she tries to escape with dream sequences starring her fellow patients (Jena Malone, Jamie Chung, Vanessa Hudgens, and Abbie Cornish). Carla Gugino plays a Polish psychiatrist (that's her in the voiceover), and Jon Hamm also stars, but alas, he doesn't appear in this footage. The unusual storyline obviously gave Snyder plenty of opportunity to play, and boy, does he. Still, I can't decide whether the movie is going to be amazing or a dizzying mess. Give the trailer a peek, and share your first impressions when you read more.
