I can't say James Blunt is my favorite guy on the music scene right now, but as far as his music goes, this new track is not bad. It reminds me of something we might have actually heard on the radio in, well, the 1970s, and in that sense it's pretty interesting.
Much of whether or not you'll enjoy Blunt's music depends on how much you can endure his voice, however, and I tend to reach the threshold of too much James Blunt quickly. Still, I do think "1973" has more promise to not be as totally grating as "You're Beautiful" after the zillionth time.
In the video, Blunt saunters slowly and gloomily down the street that alternates between being desolate in present-day and super groovy in 1973. His next album, All Lost Souls, releases September 18. To watch the video for "1973",
