NME Shockwaves Awards Get Creative

The Shockwave Awards, chosen by readers of the excellent British music mag NME, are like a cross between the Grammys and the MTV Movie Awards. There are all of the usual categories, like Best New Band and Best Album, plus some completely wacky ones, including Worst Band and Worst Dressed, which makes them more fun than our stodgy Grammys.

More than anything, of course, the Shockwaves are a place to see and be seen. This year's ceremony, held Thursday in London, was attended by hipsters galore: Jarvis Cocker and the Gossip's Beth Ditto, Kate Moss and Pete Doherty, Franz Ferdinand, and the Killers, who won for Best Video. For a full list of winners,

I'm so happy Razorlight haven't won many awards recently. Johnny Borrell needs to sit in a distant corner and deflate his ego. Yey for Jamie T and Muse. Kate Moss for sexiest woman is a little uninspired, I wanted Beth to win.
