Nominees For the 2009 Golden Globe Awards

Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon Lead Golden Globe Nominations

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Frost/Nixon came up big when the nominations for the Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning in Hollywood. Each of those films received five nominations, including one for the best dramatic film of the year. Doubt also received five nominations, although it was not nominated in the best dramatic film category.

Four other movies received four nominations each: Slumdog Millionaire, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Reader, and Revolutionary Road.

The Dark Knight received only one nomination, but it was a big one: Heath Ledger was nominated posthumously for Best Supporting Actor. Milk also only received one nomination, for Sean Penn.

On the television side, cable continued its dominance, with newcomer True Blood picking up a couple of nominations alongside Mad Men and Dexter. In Treatment was nominated for five awards, and on the comedy side, 30 Rock and Entourage led the nominations with three nods each. To see the complete list, just

I think that The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will win best drama, and I hope it does. I think Sean Penn will win for Milk I hope he doesn't I want Brad Pitt to win. And I think Anne Hathaway or Meryl Streep will win in the best actress in a drama category, though I'm really pulling for Angelina Jolie in The Changeling.

And I thought Burn After Reading was very funny and brilliantly acted. Such a misunderstood movie.

Keen to see Penelope Cruz, Slumdog Millionaire, Angelina Jolie, 30 Rock and Dexter to walk away with some awards. Still upset The Wire got completely ignored :< And I thought Burn After Reading was very funny and brilliantly acted. Such a misunderstood movie.

ooh stoked for mad men and dexter, though they're competing against each other. i really need to catch up on my movies, for awhile there wasn't anything i wanted to see and all of a sudden, BAM it's oscar season. p.s. as much as i love true blood, i don't think anna paquin warrants a nom for best actress.

Mad Men Mad Men (does a dance) I unfortunately haven't seen enough of the films that have been nominated to really root for anyone...so I guess I have a lot of films to watch!

Dark Knight got robbed... although Heath should definitely win for Best Supp. Actor- I mean, he's up against 2 guys from Tropic Thunder!Surprised Australia didn't get anything either. He should have made it a musical! That category is lacking this year.

Neil Patrick Harris better win this year. That will finally generate the right buzz for HIMYM so they don't have to stunt cast Britney Spears again!

In Bruges is definitely a black comedy - and very funny! I was pleasantly surprised to see it there and both Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson got nominated too.I thought it had been overlooked a lot by the mainstream media, so good to see it getting recognition at the Golden Globes. That said I don't think it will win Best Motion Picture. That said either Colin Farrell or Brendan Gleeson MAY win the actor category, although that could well go to James Franco. My heart would say Brendan Gleeson - would love to see him getting the award. He always seems to bring something extra special to every role he's in.

EkaterinaBallerina - yes, I have heard of black comedy :), but I didn't think In Bruges was even that. I thought it was a serious piece of dramatic work and it really touched me. I'm really happy that both actors got nominations, however, no matter what category.
