I think this movie was nominated for best costume because of how well they use the different outfits to describe the characters and explore their personalities and the way they're developed. Patricia Field outdid herself. A much better job than anything on Sex in the City. She had to be dead on. She had to be ahead of fashion since they were looking at an 8-month delay between the filming of the movie and the release date. And I just happened to love the movie too :)

This is another movie I thought of after the fact, when BuzzSugar asked about opening sequences we liked. I liked this one, all the different girls getting ready for their days, and looking fab at it. :) ------------------------------------------------------ Imagination is more important than knowledge. I can see why people expect the period pieces to win...because they usually do! :) But in reality, the nominations are based on what they add to the film and how it accents the story. (Yes, I am fild nerd and proud of it!) Therefore, I think nomination for this design is well deserved.

I dunno I always expect nominees for best costumes to actually have full-on obvious costumes, like in a period piece for instance. For this film it's more like they're saying 'Well done (designers name) for making really nice clothes. They are really nice clothes though. :P

I liked almost everything that Andy (Anne Hathaway) and Emily wore in this, and even Meryl Streep. But I HATE HATE HATE the long black dress with the puffy sleeves that Meryl wears. It is just atrocious and unflattering.
