Reese Witherspoon Attached to Movie Adaptation of The Pioneer Woman Blog 2010-03-18 11:30:00

Reese Witherspoon to Turn Pioneer Woman

Reese Witherspoon is going country: the actress is attached to star in the movie adaptation of the popular blog The Pioneer Woman.

The Pioneer Woman chronicles the life of Ree Drummond, a city-loving woman who found love and a new home in the unfamiliar territory of Oklahoma. The blog is ripe with romantic comedy potential, so I actually think this will fare better than last year's blog-to-big-screen entrant, Julie and Julia (aside from Meryl as Julia, of course).

And I certainly prefer Reese as a romantic lead; what about you?

Sounds like a fun movie, and Reese is a good choice.I don't eat meat or dairy and I still read The Pioneer Woman religiously; a huge part of that is her personality and humor.

You know, she's not who I would have pictured right away, having read Pioneer Woman for quite a while now, but I have to say, she definitely has the "big" personality. It certainly came out in Walk the Line and Sweet Home Alabama, and I think she can do it here.Oh, and CG, there is one breakfast casserole in particular that I definitely remember being rather unapologetic about the amount of butter. I believe it's called the "Sleepin in Omelet." Not that I have any sort of problem with a greasy breakfast, but her cooking isn't always health food. Heck, it's part of the reason I love her.

ugh! really? actually, i don't know too much about R. Drummond other than that when she was on one of the morning shows demonstrating her recipes, they were absolutely disgusting with the amount of grease, and sugar.

i like her in movies like this but i have to agree with others who say that this kind of seems like familiar territory for her. granted it won't keep me from seeing it - i just like to see her stretch from time to time.

Reese as Ree? really? Ree is so much "bigger" than she is, personality, height, arms, legs, dimples, forehead! Ive beeing reading Ree Drummonds blog for years now....gonna have to think about this one.

I am thrilled about this as I also unexpectedly live in Oklahoma and have loved Ree's blog for a while. So exciting for her!
