The Ricki and the Flash Trailer Shows a Whole New Side of Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep, queen of everything, stars as a woman who is a lot better at being a rock star than she is at being a mom in the trailer for Ricki and the Flash. When Ricki's ex (Kevin Kline) calls to say their daughter Julie's (played by Steep's real-life daughter, Mamie Gummer) husband has left her for another woman, she takes a break from playing clubs with her band to be reunited with her family. "Whoa, Mom, you're here," Julie says in the trailer. "It's like the '80s again." It's pretty funny, but also heartbreaking. The movie is out on Aug. 7, and you can watch the trailer, below, to see costars Sebastian Stan and Rick Springfield. (Yes, the guy who sang "Jessie's Girl.")
