In a world where crime has gotten out of control, Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) has become "the future of American justice." He stars in RoboCop, a remake of the 1987 action film, the trailer for which has just debuted. Kinnaman is Alex Murphy, a cop leading a normal life with his wife (Abbie Cornish) and son, until he's terminally wounded by a car bomb. He becomes the guinea pig for a new type of weapon: a fully equipped metal suit that becomes a part of his body, meaning he can't just get out of it, à la Iron Man. The movie also costars Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson as the guys behind the robotic piece.
I've seen Kinnaman on TV more than I've seen him on the big screen, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the chops to lead a potential blockbuster like this. I actually love him in the role, simply because he's a little fresh-faced and unexpected for the part. I'm also a sucker for Jackson and Keaton, and their presence here gives me hope this might just be more than generic action fodder. Robocop hits theaters on Feb. 7, until then, check out the trailer after the jump.
