Saturday Night Live Recap With Ryan Phillippe and Ke$ha, Plus Video of Mort Feingold Skit

Recap: SNL Ryan Phillippe and Ke$ha

The following post is from OnSugar user ataylor, who posted it on her blog Pink and Black.

Because I have been so busy with school, work and stuff going on back home, I have not been able to just relax and watch television — until last night. I missed the Tine Fey/Justin Bieber epi but I could use less J Bieb in my life so I'm not going to watch it online. I did watch last night's show with Ryan Phillippe and Ke$ha, hence the title of this entry. I was not disappointed. I'm so glad SNL is back on the right track again.

Promoting MacGruber, Ryan Phillippe (ex-hubby to Reese Witherspoon) hosted with musical guest, and Gaga wannabe, Ke$ha. Now, let's recap.

Cold Open — I did not give my full attention to this part because I was doing some last minute stuff online. However, I saw Kristen Wiig playing Bjork, and that's always, well, cute. Fred Armisen plays Larry King as well. I'm going to go ahead and compliment how great this cast is, although I still do not care much for Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate.

Opening Credits — I just want to take the time and say how much I like the credits this year. I like new, and I like change. Good job Lorne Michaels or whoever had a say in this.

Monologue — Of course, there was a mention of MacGruber. That led to my favorite Kristen Wiig character — Target Lady (pronounced Terrget). Curious about when their characters' movies would be coming out (MacGruber is an SNL skit and character in case you have been hiding under a rock for the past couple of years), Andy Samberg's D in a B character joined Target Lady and so did Diandre Cole (aka Kenan Thompson). I love the "What Up Wit Dat" skits btw, this is my favorite Kenan — along with Reba of course. Anyways, good mono.

I don't like it when they repeat their parody commercials so I will skip to the first skit.

ESPN Classics Women's Weightlifting — AH! Sponges! These skits are always funny, and gross. Ryan Phillippe plays a very masculine girl, wonder why? And I think Kristen is always in these skits. What can that woman not do?

Hip Hop Kids — Bear Cave — Dance it out yo! I love gangster Andy and gangster Jason Sudeikis. This was no exception.

Kickspit Dirt Festival — Outrageous Clown Squad — Worst skit of the night. I didn't like it at all. And clowns creep me out.

I Got This — Man, J Suds and Will Forte can really get angry. I don't like a lot of the game shows that they do on SNL (i.e., have sex with your mom or whatever) but this one was alright. Okay, yeah it was funny.

Ke$ha — Ugh. Try less.

Update — I did not catch a lot of this either. Sorry Seth Meyers.

Digital Short — This Andy character was gross but I loved the voice he used. "What's up bro?" Poor Ryan.

Shake Weight DVD — Hahahahahahaha. When I first saw this commercial, the real one, I thought SNL parody. I can't believe people actually buy those, they're so awkward.

Celebrity Taxes — Mort Feingold — New Andy character? Win! I enjoyed all the cast's impressions too. Abby Elliott played a mean Shaun White, like how Bobby played a mean Susan Boyle. Wowee Zowee.

Ke$ha, again — Ugh. Try less. And what was she wearing? It reminded me of that one scene in Batman Forever. You know what I'm talking about.

Breakfast at Tiffany's Song — I LOVE it when they do one of these skits!! That is all.

Teen Talk — I just have to say, I've never heard Bill Hader's voice sound so . . . normal? It was weird. But cool, I guess.

Obviously, these are not all the skits, but just the ones on Hulu and that I remember. My favorite was the Breakfast at Tiffany's one, just because Bill seemed to really like the song but since that skit is not posted online, I'll show you the new Andy character, Mort Feingold.

I enjoyed how there was a lot of Samberg in this show but I was really pulling for at least one MacGruber sketch.
