Sigourney Weaver Possibly Reveals New Character in Ghostbusters 3 2009-12-13 10:30:47

Who Should Play Oscar in Ghostbusters 3?

I already can't wait for Ghostbusters 3, and apparently, neither can Sigourney Weaver. The star of the previous two movies may have revealed a new, pivotal character in an interview this week, saying, “I know that my little son Oscar — who was kidnapped from me — I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster.” The Oscar in question is the baby in Ghostbusters 2, memorably spirited away by a ghostly nanny (one of the most terrifying parts to me as a kid).

So this opens up a casting opportunity for the role of grown-up Oscar; it would need to be someone in their early 20s, with a whip-smart sense of humor that can keep up with that of Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. I have my own ideas about the rising young male star who's also funny enough to be a fifth Ghostbuster.

Shia LaBeouf comes to mind, but I don't know if I need to see him play another new generation of a classic franchise (Indiana Jones). I could also see new Scrubs cast member Dave Franco as a hot version of young Oscar.

Who would you like to see freshen up Ghostbusters 3?

I choose Dave Franco. He's super hott and I wanna see him in something. I don't watch Scrubs so I wouldn't see him in that and I've watched the old Ghostbusters movies a long time ago and I want to watch the new ones. I don't care for Shia so I don't want to see him in this.

Blasphemy, anonymous. Maybe Jesse Eisenberg since he's already acted with Bill Murray.

I realized yesterday that Michael Cera had lost it for me.. I prefer Jesse Eisenberg for that awkward/geeky vibe. I think Shia is pretty hysterical - he was certainly one of the only palatable parts of the Transformers sequel!

Neither of them--Shia just isn't that funny, and I haven't seen the new Scrubs guy. As for Micheal Cera, I love him, but I don't know if I can see him acting along side Billy Murray. I agree with Pistil, it would be a great opportunity for a new actor to come along.

Penn Badgley. I think it would be fun to see him play something other than Dan Humphrey...

I have no idea, but I'm psyched to hear news on the film. I like Michael Cera and Shia, but I think I'd rather see someone who's talented but a little less well-known.
