Box Office: Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs Call It a Draw

In the box office showdown between Cowboys & Aliens and The Smurfs this weekend, neither film emerged a definite winner. Instead, the tiny blue creatures lassoed in as many dollars as their Wild West counterparts, with each film grossing $36.2 million. Captain America: The First Avenger saw a steep 62 percent drop, falling to third place with $24.9 million, followed closely by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, which brought in $21.9 million. I cannot believe that people went to see The Smurfs. I am of the opinion that Cowboys and Alien's failed because of the Olivia Wilde factor. If the movie was any good better actresses would have been interested in the role. Had they switched her with Marion Cotillard I would have spent money on that crap and so would a lot of other people.
