Song of the Day: Albert Hammond Jr., "In Transit"

Song of the Day: Albert Hammond Jr., "In Transit"

Whether you're waiting anxiously for a new Strokes record or wishing they would just go away, you'll be interested to hear that the band is laying low while guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. pursues his new solo project. Hammond's debut album, Yours to Keep, comes out in the States March 6, and meanwhile, he's touring with Incubus and Bloc Party.

I'm sort of over the Strokes, but damn, can Hammond play an intoxicating guitar. I really like this track "In Transit," which also features some wicked keyboard work. To listen,

I found his album disappointing, apart from this song. It's so addictive! I've been in love with it since I heard it on the "U2 beach songs" from Bono's house last summer.

I like this. I'm kind of over the Strokes as well, but I'm never going to be over poppy, shiny guitar riffs like this.
