Hit-making producer Timbaland has a reputation for genre-blending beats and unexpected instrumentation: some Eastern tabla for Missy Elliot, spooky strings on JT's "What Goes Around," and '80s keyboard effects for Nelly Furtado. So it's fitting that Tim would push the boundaries of hip-hop on his new solo effort, Timbaland Presents Shock Value, which features collaborations ranging from Dr. Dre to Elton John to Swedish rock band The Hives.
Though the highly anticipated album, which came out yesterday, is getting rather tepid reviews, there's no denying that Shock Value features some very worthwhile tracks, including the Hives collaboration, "Throw It On Me."
