Song of the Day: Tori Amos, "Big Wheel"

Song of the Day: Tori Amos, "Big Wheel"

If you were an angsty teen in the 1990s — as I was — chances are you spent a lot of time listening to Tori Amos. I haven't followed her career as closely lately, but I still like digging out her old albums now and again. Plus, I appreciate the fact that Amos (unlike, say, Liz Phair) has kept her ass-kicking indie integrity intact over the years.

On May 1, she'll release her ninth studio album, called American Doll Posse, and I've managed to get an early listen at "Big Wheel," rumored to be the album's first single. The song has a countrified rock feel that I like, plus plenty of Tori's trademark piano flourishes. To listen,

Although I wasn't quite the "angsty teen in the 90s", I did go through a phase in which her music actually got me through the days somehow. I don't listen to her much anymore, but once in a while it's a good reminder to hear a few songs by her. I like this song, thanks for the post.

I LOVE IT!!! I am a huge fan of hers, and I cannot thank you enough for posting this!!! I cannot wait for this album to come out now. She is an acquired taste, but I have always loved her. Thanks, Buzz!

LOL, Liz Phair. The "angsty teen in the 90s" caught my attention right away! but I was never a Tori fan (more the Nirvana/Pearl Jam girl). My husband drools over her though and I have passed this on to him. Thanks!

BuzzSugar: Perfect way to put it. "In you were an angsty teens in the 1990s." I was there too. RCLdesigngirl: She is a mighty bit of a downer. Overall I think I outgrew Miss Amos. But I gotta admit though I will never buy this album the song is quite catchy.

When I was an art major in the early years of my college career, there was a girl in my human figure drawing class who insisted that we ONLY listen to Tori Amos while we sketched. I was so depressed by the end of that semester I could literally cry just thinking about having to listen to her again!
