TV Tonight: "Family Guy" Takes on Star Wars

TV Tonight: "Family Guy" Takes on Star Wars

Three of Fox's animated series — "Family Guy," "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" — return tonight with their season premieres. I'm pretty excited for "The Simpsons" 19th (yes, that's nineteenth) season opener, especially considering it has a Spider Pig cameo. But the one that really has my interest is "Family Guy" because of its long-awaited Star Wars parody, "Blue Harvest."

Now, I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan ever, but for some reason, parodies of the movie empire just get me (remember "Robot Chicken"?). And while I thought the one clip I saw of the hour-long "Family Guy" episode lingered a little too long on a gag with a couch, there are a few inspired moments, including everything about the way Stewie is drawn as Darth Vader. To check out a clip,

We are Star War fans. I do not watch Family Guy, but I had to tune in for this. I thought it was pretty clever.

something is wrong if you dont think family guy is funny, and this episode was amazing! Its very time consuming, and hardly lazy to tackle such a iconic movie, because there is so much room for serious error. My favorite parts: 1) Jumping to light speed in the Millenium Falcon and hearing the "dr who" music, than seeing Tom Bakers Face! 2) Meg only being the garbage chute monster! 3) John Williams and orchestra being burnt along side aunt baru and uncle owen. and so much much more!

It was funny most of the time and the couch gag was very spot on (the writers rock at writing "real" dialogue). However, I thought doing a parody of Star Wars scene for scene was really lazy.

LOL stewie in that huge Darth Vader helmet reminds me of the movie Spaceballs with Rick Moranis' character who wears a similar size Vader helmet on his tiny body

Everything demeter said. Stewie is the best thing about Family Guy, and when it comes to cartoons for grown-ups, Futurama is much better.

Men are incompetent movers. This couch gag eerily resembles my brother trying to move out of his apartment...
