Richelle Mead's bestselling series is headed to the big screen (one of many YA books being turned into movies), and the first trailer for Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters is intense. Natalie (Sarah Hyland), Rose (Zoey Deutch) and Lissa (Lucy Fry) have just started at St. Vladimir's Academy, a boarding school for mortal, peaceful vampires and their half-vampire, half-human guardians. While Lissa is struggling with her social status, Rose is busy studying (and romancing) her guardian trainer, Dimitri (Danila Kozlovsky). They may be safe within the academy, but just beyond its walls, evil vampires are waiting to hunt them. Spooky!
To be completely honest, I thought I was ready for a break from vampires, but there's something about this that I kind of love. The movie is adapted by Daniel Waters, who wrote '80s classic Heathers, and directed by Mean Girls' director, Mark Waters. These dudes definitely know teen girls (I know, that sounds weird), which makes me think this will be a totally tongue-in-cheek adaptation. The movie is set for release on Feb. 14 (Valentine's Day!) next year, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.
