Oops, they did it again. Just days ago, The Vampire Diaries got fans buzzing about the controversial ad campaign that's been popping up on billboards. The signs read: "Catch VD." Not exactly subtle, but now the network is trying its hand at even more sexual innuendo with this latest promo. It's actually an incredibly hot video, which shows several of the show's characters hopping into bed. But the slogan may push it over the top: "Got Wood?"
OK, we get it, like a stake. This isn't the first time the CW has tried to push the envelope (remember Gossip Girl's old ads?), but this is definitely taking it one step further. I just don't think the puns are the sort of sexy tongue-in-cheek that the CW seems to be going after; actually, they're kind of gross if you think about it. But perhaps I'm overthinking it: what's your take on the new Vampire Diaries marketing?
