Video of David Letterman Apologizing to His Wife and Staff On the Air

Buzz-Worthy Video of the Day: Letterman Apologizes on the Air

Last week, David Letterman made waves (to say the least) when he revealed on the air that he had been blackmailed for $2 million regarding information about sexual affairs with female members of his staff. Whether the announcement surprised you or not, it seems that we all feel sympathetic for Letterman's wife and family. Last night Letterman used his audience as a sounding board once again, apologizing first to members of his staff who have been harassed since the affairs went public, and then to his wife Regina, saying that he has his "work cut out for him." Just like the first time around, Letterman used a casual tone and threw a few jokes in to keep things light, but is it really appropriate to follow-up a heartfelt apology to your wife with a Sarah Palin jab? Check out the video below and tell me what you think.

teyo, if they had an agreement he wouldn't "have a lot of making up to do." She married his ass not knowing that he'd cheated on her, and it looks like more than once and also after they wed. I am so over Dave now.

I would never say that cheating is okay, but David isn't a politician, he is by no means a role model. The only one he has to answer to in my book is his partner for 20 some years and now wife.

Dave was not married to his wife during their affair. Yes, I know that he was in a relationship with his current wife but for all we know, there might have been an understanding or an acknowledgement of the relationship between the two of them. Who knows? I don't know, do you know? Is it any of our business? In terms of "hypocrisy"...I'm not sure where this charge is coming from. I don't remember David Letterman being the spokesperson for the "monogamous, fidelity-free relationships/marriage" campaign. His commentary on Sarah Palin is centered on her appropriating her own daughter's experience and promulgating it onto center stage of her political endeavors.

Damn hypocrite. Some here (and everywhere) may think I am taking this waaaaaaaay to personally and seriously, but I just can't abide by this extreme case of hypocrisy. Later Dave......

While it is his private affair (who he cheated with), it just occurred to me, that at least the one I read about, the affair happened with an underling (someone who worked for him), which intrigued me. Doesn't that violate some sort of work ethic? Of course, again it'll be with CBS discretion on what to do on that one. Sure, many assumed that the woman was more than willing to basically have sex with him or it as for her selfish purpose to gain promotion. But, sometimes, some women/men felt 'compelled' to have sex with their bosses because they felt pressured and don't want to lose their jobs too. I don't watch him and I probably will not tune in. I got so used to Jay Leno from a long time ago, but now yeah, I usually just tuned in the cable news station during that hour.

I commend him for coming out and saying what he did and admitting it was wrong but what is with these women who continue to stay with a man after he has done this sort of thing. What does that say about women and what kind of example does that set for society?

I'm over Dave. Such a hypocrite.

As for the Palin thing. . . he probably could have left that out, even though it sounded more of a jab at himself for saying/doing inappropriate things than it was a jab to Palin herself.

I didn't view it so much as an apology to his wife rather than acknowledgment that he wronged her. I'm sure he has given her many private apologies, as well. I commend him for addressing, directly, the error of his ways and getting ahead of something that would have gotten out some way or another.
