He beat out Stephen Daldry for The Reader, David Fincher for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Ron Howard for Frost/Nixon, and Gus Van Sant for Milk. What do you think about this win?

I wasn't thrilled with the movie as other people are, but I do acknowledge that Boyle did a wonderful job as a director ! Trully deserved !
