What Do You Think of M. Night Shyamalan's Work?

Cinematical is reporting the plot details rumored to be involved in M. Night Shyamalan's next project (which stars Zooey Deschanel) ,The Happening and it sounds relatively spooky.

However, I wonder if Lady in the Water sounded like a good idea before he made it, too. I've found that Shyamalan is one of those directors that some people think is extremely clever and others passionately can't stand.

What do you think of M. Night?

I loved the sixth sense and unbreakable. The rest of his movies are ok. I like the fact that his movies are somewhat suspenseful, but are not gruesome at all.

sixth sense is about the only good thing he came up with if you ask me...

Never seen one of his films. I had wanted to see a couple, but all his films seem to have a twist and someone is always insitent on telling me that twist after that It's pointless watching the film.

He's too hyped up for what he produces. They're good movies, but he's nothing that special.

I only liked the 6th sense. He keeps using the same formula, so it's kind of boring to watch his movies now.

I thought Signs was just plain boring. And The Village, well, I knew there'd be a twist and I figured it out about 15 minutes into the movie, which kind of ruined it for me. He ruined the twist by making us expect it. Plus, I thought it was just kind of stupid anyway. The dialogue was atrocious.

They all seem to have the same plot line. Once you've seen one all the rest are predictable.

I enjoyed Unbreakable and the Sixth Sense. The Village and Lady in the water were terrible.

Signs and The Sixth Sense were amazing. The Village and Lady in the Water? Not so much.

Shyamalan's got a good vision, and he has the potential to make a lot of his films much better than they've actually turned out. The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable were incredible. However, I thought Signs and The Village were pretty mediocre (and it didn't help that the "big twists" were easily guessable right in the beginning of The Village). And I actually kind of liked Lady in the Water even though it was a terrible film. One thing really annoys me though - he seems to like to make himself the key figure in his films. In Signs, he was the guy that gave away the secret to defeating the aliens. In Lady in the Water, he's the guy who writes the book that will change the entire world. In the words of Jay Sherman, Pheh!

The first time I saw The Sixth Sense the ending just blew me away...Signs was tolerable--mainly because of Joaquin Phoenix...the rest I haven't seen because, frankly, they looked BORING!

I'm sorry but isn't he an actor hired to play a director? I thought I saw a program on this LOL It said these movies are just made by the studios.
