Which American Idol Contestant Is Going Home Next?

As Idol Gives Back week began on Tuesday, the top eight American Idol hopefuls sang songs intended to inspire us — and, I suppose, pull out our wallets to make some charity donations. Alas, one contestant's performance will be deemed not inspirational enough. Which singer do you think is going home next?

i'm sooo glad kristy is out. i hope syesha is next! i really don't like her. i LOVE jason, david cookuleta, carly and brooke! the last 5 will be REALLY hard to decide! HAHA! I JUST HOPE KRISTY'S BOOTED OFF SO THAT WE HAVE A GOOD TOP 5! btw, marry me, jason? :)

Me and my granny think Jason Castro sucks. I hope it's him or Kristy Lee. Is America tone deaf or something? They voted off David H and Michael Johns. Both of which are way better than Kristy or Jason. Syesha is whack too. She has no emotion. Shoot Alecia was better than her and they kicked her off second. I love David A and David C. Either one of them should go all the way. Carly is the bomb too.

i hope its not carly. let it be syesha or kristy. i've been listening to carly's and michael's dolly parton performance the whole week and can't seem to get enough of it. they're the most fantastic performers but also the most inconsistent :( .

i think carly might be going home. she's got a great voice, but i think people aren't really liking her. i WANT kristy lee cook to go home. i think she obviously has the least talent out of everyone. bottom will be carly, kristy, syesha? you know who i voted for last night though <<< heh

I think it is sad to see Carly be so inconsistent. I thought her Dolly Parton song was GREAT and was the one time when she lived up to her potential. (I think she actually IMPROVED on the Dolly version and made it more heartfelt, which is crazy hard to do.) This week, she was just so serious and it was the wrong song for a night of inspirational songs. It really stuck out in the recap of the songs....

Phasekitty, I totally agree with you about Syesha! She is so one of those annoying drama kids from back in high school. I've said it since the beginning.

(sarah wrote): "I thought for sure the judges were going to hate that Somewhere over the Rainbow (I did) and couldnt believe that they Loved it so much!" Jason emulated a brilliant, unconventional version of that song by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole (or, as he is often referred, Braddah Iz). This was Iz's signature song, his significant contribution to music -- a riveting medley of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "What a Wonderful World." His interpretation is an inspired work, and the only version of Over the Rainbow that I actually enjoy. It was a fantastic choice for Jason -- unexpected but well-suited to his particular quirks and folksy delivery. Jason's version lacked the rotund jubilation of Iz's original arrangement, that is true -- but I still liked it, and I continue to like him.

:rotfl: I did quite enjoy the box simile, though!

"I have to disagree with duck duck in that I think Syesha has shown some personality, it's just not a good one." I LOLd at this statement -- and I concede. Your observations are more accurate than my box simile, I think.

I'm surprised to see everyone say Syesha, because I really thought it'd be Carly. I think the judges have been unreasonably harsh on her lately, but last night I thought she was actually pretty bad. But I love that everyone's saying Syesha because nothing would please me more. I have to disagree with duck duck in that I think Syesha has shown some personality, it's just not a good one. It's what turns me off from her most in fact, she seems to have a really annoying and grating personality. Plus she thinks way too highly of herself and humble doesn't exist in her vocabulary. AND she's got that whole horrible "actress" thing going for her which reminds me of all the annoying drama club drama queens from high school. That's the personality she's shown me, anyway.

I actually thought Kristy Lee did really well last night...and I ♥ Brooke...i hope she sticks around Jason(i think thats his name) DRIVES ME NUTSO!!! I thought for sure the judges were going to hate that Somewhere over the Rainbow (I did) and couldnt believe that they Loved it so much! Especially when the last person to sing it was Katherine McPhee and she did such an amazing job at it!

KLC BETTER GO HOME SOON ...because I am afraid if she is on much longer she is going to be one of the losers who still gets an album or a contract or something and we will have to continue to hear her sing moderately and butcher Journey songs, etc. :IRK:

I don't really care...there's a few of them that kind of irritate me: David A., Kristy Lee, and Syesha. I'm predicting that Brooke will go home tonight. I don't want her to, I like her, but I just have a feeling.

laney ~ I think they're all hard on Carly because they had such astronomical expectations of her. It seems they thought she would be the front-runner during the season when she blew away the initial auditions, but could not compete because of issues with her green-card (or something of the like). They act like she's really disappointed them, that she isn't who they had hoped she'd be. (It seems almost parental, in an odd way -- as if she's the eldest child, returned from a long absence, and has not turned out quite the way they would have liked.) I dunno. (But I *love* listening to her speak.)

Hopefully Syesha, she annoys me more than Kristy Lee Cook.

I'm also smitten with Brooke. She's genuine, affable, and she's a good little singer in her folksy, straight-forward, earnest style. Pleasant voice, sweet smile, nice gal She won't win this competition, but I hope she sticks around for another few weeks, at least.

why are they so hard on carly??

syesha is ALWAYS a second-rate somebody.....whitney, fantasia....she takes on these big songs that have made other people famous, and then gets upset when she's compared to them. her and archuleta are tied for who i can't stand the most. as much as kristy is not phenomenal, she's getting more personable, and will probably easily get a country record deal if she can hang on a few more weeks. love love love brooke white...i could listen to her sing the phone book. and david cook wasn't great, and that jacket was HIDEOUS, but to quote randy jackson, i'm not mad at him.

Haha, I think the cardboard box reference was quite a good Cowell-ism. ;)

(Yup, my Cowell-isms are amateurish and not terribly amusing. But I can put on a black tee-shirt if you think it might help.) :p

I agree, yid -- Syesha does have a nice voice, but she lacks charisma. It's fine to have more reserved sensibilities in everyday life, but this competition is about performance as much as singing; she's shown no personality. She's sorta like good quality cardboard -- sturdy and dependable, but yet she's nothing more than an empty box.

duck duck is right. They announced that there will be an elimination on Thursday. I think Syesha is next to go. She chose the absolute wrong song to sing. The major problem with her is that while she has a nice voice there is nothing distinctive about it. So why would she sing a Fantasia song, when what made her so popular was her unique voice? Not a good call.
