Between Public Enemies and the forthcoming Alice in Wonderland, we'll be seeing quite a lot of Johnny Depp on the big screen over the next several months. So it's surprising to read that Depp is actually in something of a career lull at the moment, having committed to a lot of projects that aren't quite in production yet. Which will take off first? Here are the contenders:
- Depp is, of course, signed on for the next Pirates of the Caribbean film — but because Disney is looking for a new director, it might be a while before he starts work on it.
- He's also committed to star as Tonto in The Lone Ranger, but that film still awaits a director and a finished script.
- Depp is teaming up with Alice director Tim Burton for a Dark Shadows film, but since Burton's still got work to do on Alice, it could be a while.
- Finally, Warner Bros. wants Depp to take the title role in its update of The Incredible Mr. Limpet, but Depp hasn't yet agreed to play the man who turns into a talking fish.
Which role do you hope he brings to the big screen next?
