Why Loki Isn't in Avengers: Age of Ultron

One of the most popular characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn't an Avenger at all. The ever-so-charming Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has a legion of fans, many of whom might be saddened to hear that he was originally supposed to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron. During an interview with MTV, director Joss Whedon revealed that Hiddleston actually shot scenes for the movie. "We did shoot something, but it didn't play," he said. "The movie has so much. It's so filled. We didn't want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood the decision that there were now too many voices in the chorus. At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing." While we're excited to see him in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, this is still quite devastating news. Perhaps his scenes will show up on the DVD? One can dream.
