Worst Romantic Comedies Ever

What's the Worst Romantic Comedy You've Ever Seen?

It's no secret that I'm a big champion of the romantic-comedy genre. Sure, the films are typically cheeseball flicks designed to make us desperate for a picture-perfect relationship, but when done well, there's nothing better than that warm, fuzzy feeling when the two leads finally get that happy ending you've been rooting for. Let's be frank, though: some rom-coms are really, really bad.

Writing for The New York Times today, Maureen Dowd bemoans the lack of solid romantic comedies and why they "reek." Harsh words, but it did get me thinking about some of the truly terrible ones I've seen in recent years. Fool's Gold, The Ugly Truth, and The Bounty Hunter are the first to come to mind, but I'm sure you'll have some suggestions for ones that are far more cringe-worthy. So tell me, what's the worst romantic comedy you've ever seen?

I agree with you for Notting Hill, one of the most boring movies I've ever seen.

How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days was horrific, but I'll have to second Four Christmases. And I dunno if My Best Friend's Wedding counts, but I hate that movie.

The wedding date and Leap Year were the worst I saw recently. I didn't stop to watch Leap Year only for the Ireland images they were showing. To this day Love actually is my favorite movie of all time, such a feel good movie with amazing actors. And Clueless omg are you kidding it's a super fun movie!

He's Just Not that Into You, P.S. I love you, actually anything with Gerard Butler or Katherine Heigl.

Love and Other Disasters (my roommate at the time was watching it on TV...Brittany Murphy's fake accent was too horrible for words, I had to leave the room), Le Divorce (have to agree with dannysf on that one, almost walked out of the theater), and anything with J Lo (The Wedding Planner and Made of Honor come to mind). Most of the others mentioned I refused to see. What happened to the genre after classics like Annie Hall, When Harry Met Sally, Breakfast at Tiffany's? Sigh.

Wikipedia-ed it. It's called A Guy Thing. Feel blessed if you've never heard of it.

Oh God, I can't remember the name of it and it's never on TV but I saw this one in theaters. It was a Saturday night the second weekend this movie was out and we were the only ones in the theater...that's how bad it was. It had Julia Stiles in it if I remember correctly

Failure to Launch I call Failure to Watch. I wanted to divorce Le Divorce. Alex and Emma was just atrocious. I hate to say it, but most Kate Hudson movies are pretty awful in general.

I don't really see romcoms anymore, but 27 dresses was atrocious. Cherry on top dialogue: "Is your wedding everything you hoped for?" "No." "Whaaaaat?" "It's better!"

Almost all rom coms I've seen are AWFUL so it's hard to pick a worst one out of the bunch. It's easier to pick the ones I liked (Head Over Heels with Freddie Prinze Jr had me literally lmao through the entire thing). Maybe if rom coms didn't take themselves so seriously they'd be less god awful (probably why I liked Head Over heels, it made a big joke out of itself...If that wasn't the intention of the director than whoops).

Oh what was that one with the kid from American Pie? Boys and Girls? Something like that... it was AWFUL!

27 Dresses, The Ugly Truth...apparently I don't like Katherine Heigl. And I have to say, although I know MANY people disagree, I HATED A Walk to Remember.
