Here's Who Each Character Grows Up to Be on Gotham

David Mazouz plays the young man who grows up to be Gotham's Dark Knight.

The character of Batman is the heart of the entire franchise; he was first introduced in the comic books way back in 1939 by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger.

Ben McKenzie stars as the focus of Fox's series, Detective Jim Gordon, who eventually becomes the commissioner and Batman's ally.

Gordon also appeared in the comics in '39 as the very first Batman supporting character. Over the years, the character has shown up in the movies, with Gary Oldman playing the most memorable version.

Robin Lord Taylor plays young Oswald, the henchman who starts as Fish Mooney's personal umbrella holder and moves on to being a bigger villain.

Batman's most notorious female villain is Catwoman, who first appeared in 1940 as "The Cat." She's been portrayed on screen many times by the likes of Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, and Anne Hathaway.

Cory Michael Smith portrays one of Gotham's most notorious villains, back when he worked with the Gotham PD.

The Riddler first showed up in the comics in 1948; he played a huge part in the animated series of the '90s and was played on screen by Jim Carrey in 1995's Batman Forever.

Erin Richards costars as Gordon's fiancée, Barbara.

In the comics, the redheaded Kean is known as Gordon's first wife (spoiler alert), with whom he has his children.

Sean Pertwee plays Bruce's butler and trusted confidant.

Alfred has been a part of Batman's life since he was introduced in 1943. On screen, he's been played by Michael Caine, and in 2015's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Jeremy Irons will portray him.

Donal Logue plays Gordon's partner, the kind of dirty, kind of funny Bullock.

Bullock didn't show up until 1974 in the comics, and Gotham is actually the first time he's shown up as a live-action character.

Nicholas D'Agosto portrays the younger district attorney on Gotham, beginning his stint this week on the drama before becoming a series regular.

Dent is an ally of Batman's before mob boss Sal Maroni tosses acid on him, claiming half of his face — and half of his sense of morality, it would seem. In the movies, he has been played by Billy Dee Williams, Tommy Lee Jones, and Aaron Eckhart.
