High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is channeling another Disney classic for their upcoming second season. After putting on a production of High School Musical in season one, the East High drama students will be putting on Beauty and the Beast for their next musical. For the special announcement, the cast members of the Disney+ series gave us a little taste of what's to come as they sang the title song from the 1991 animated film. Can we just take a moment to talk about all of their incredible vocals?

"The opportunity to 'borrow' one of the most classic Disney scores — and build our second season of HSMTMTS around it — is like having your wish upon a star granted," Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, said. "The outpouring of love and support for season one has been incredibly exciting, and I'm thrilled that the Wildcats are putting on Beauty and the Beast in season two," creator Tim Federle added. "It was one of the first Broadway shows I ever saw, when I was 14, and it's got all the perfect metaphors for the high school experience: do people judge me for how I look? What is true love? Will I achieve the future I dream of? And, perhaps most importantly, it's got dancing forks."

Production for season two is officially underway in Salt Lake City and we're already eager for more. The release date is "slated for a late 2020 debut" and will include reimagined numbers from both the High School Musical movies and the stage production of Beauty and the Beast, as well as more original songs. Seeing that production for season one started in February 2019 and the first season was eventually released on Nov. 12, 2019, that could put a release date for season two sometime in the Fall. We can't wait!
