The A.P.C. presentation is always a highlight of Paris Fashion Week. Inside the brand's airy Left Bank offices, founder Jean Touitou walks small groups of editors through the collection while they nibble on tea sandwiches, explaining his thought process for the season and throwing out highly quotable bon mots to the crowd. (Example: "Fashion is the terminal state of Bovarism.")
For Fall 2014, he discussed how his early crush on stewardesses informed the Fall 2014 collection for APC, which translated to of-the-moment A-line skirts, buttoned-up blouses, zip-front jackets, and a lot of navy. But it's all in the details at A.P.C., where leather knee-high boots are a subversive take on the rubber wellie made luxe. A shearling collar jacket is from the collaboration with Kanye West and is a unisex style spotted on the superstar himself. Touitou told us that he wanted to make it "good enough," but we respectfully disagree that he actually made the collection great.
