>> Fresh off attending the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Wednesday night as a guest of Carine Roitfeld — "She goes every year. She says it's her favorite show," he told The Cut — Alexander Wang stopped by Barneys in New York last night for his Spring 2011 collection trunk show, where his knits and suede clutches with rose gold were said to be selling well.
But what about Wang's own Manhattan store, which workers recently estimated to be ready for opening mid-March? Wang himself was scant on detail: "It's opening sometime next year, yes." No more specifics? "No more specifics. You know, I've learned to stop talking about details because every time I think it's going to open, it always gets pushed back. So if I stop talking about it, maybe it will actually open when I want it to open." When the store finally does open, though, he did confirm one thing: "There will definitely be exclusive product, for sure." Wang's first brick-and-mortar isn't his only store under construction: he also recently announced that he'll be reworking his online store.
As for Wang's holiday plans, he says: "I rarely celebrate Thanksgiving . . . I work with my family, I'm around them all the time. I think Thanksgiving's like our break, to go off and be with our friends, to do something fun. I might be leaving the City but I don't know where yet."
And come December? "My birthday's in December, so I'm planning a little trip for me and my friends, but again, no idea [where]. I feel like it's about going on a whim, that kind of thing, where you get 10 of your friends together. That's my biggest treat, to me, when I get to really get away and be able to really spend time with my friends and have a crazy blast."
