When news first broke that Dello Russo was developing Beyond, stores including Selfridges, Colette, Lane Crawford and the Japanese retailer Restir contacted Dello Russo. But she decided to sell only online: “I was born online and want to stay online, plus Yoox believed in me at the beginning." (A line of T-shirts featuring her image sold out in three hours on the retailer’s site.)
The bottle, which retails for $25, is meant to reference a Christmas ornament; a loop on the shoe's heel will allow it to be hung from a tree. “My fragrance is a gadget; it’s a mass-market toy," Dello Russo says. "I wanted to create something pop."
Speaking of pop, Dello Russo has received a flurry of commercial offers, but she says: “I want to do a record next. Everyone expects me to do a clothes line. It’s too obvious. I want to do the opposite.”
